Ann Arbor Open House Information
Open House Etiquette:
Most Real Estate Agents will request that you sign in when you enter the Open House. Sellers want to know who was in their home. If you don’t want the Agent to follow up with you, simply jot a note next to your name and let them know.
Sellers sometimes request that you remove your shoes. When preparing a home for sale, sellers will often invest in carpet cleaning. Please respect their wishes and try to help them keep the home pristine and show ready.
Neighbors are welcome. If you see that there’s a house down the street that is holding an Open House and you’ve always wanted to know what the interior looked like, go visit. Often the feedback and/or neighborhood insight that you can give a Real Estate Agent will be helpful.
Open Houses are a great place to meet Agents:
Ann Arbor Open Houses can be a great place to interview a Real Estate Agent. If you’re shopping for representation, visiting local Open Houses, and seeing the Agent in action can give you the opportunity to assess their work, interview them face-to-face, and get a good assessment of their follow-up based upon their contact afterwards.
Open House Success – How Homeowners can Help!
Your Real Estate Agent will manage the “meet & greet” and have flyers and information available for the public, manage the online advertising and exterior signage to increase traffic, but you can make or break an Ann Arbor Open House with your preparedness:
- Make sure the house is sparkling clean and odor free.
- Remove vehicles from the driveway so guests have a place to park.
- Open all blinds and drapes to let the light in.
- Turn on all lights in the home so that each room is inviting.
- Do not use heavy perfumed cleaners, spices or air fresheners – many people have allergies and it will drive them right out of the house.
- Put pets into a safe, quiet area, or take them with you.
