Ann Arbor Ranked #2 Best Place to Live in 2020

According to the results of Livability’s latest research, Ann Arbor ranked in at #2 in the list of Best Small and Medium-Sized (cities) Places to Live in 2020.

Livability analyzed factors including safety, affordability, economic stability, outdoor recreation, accessibility, and community engagement. This year’s list was also informed by a new metric, “Opportunity Score,” which summarizes the city’s landscape of opportunity derived from variables like job numbers, broadband access, and economic resilience and growth.

2020 has certainly changed the way most people live and what they want in a hometown. Livability believes that their top-ranked cities offer people what they are craving most right now: “connection, affordability, and the space and opportunity to grow.”

Livability noted that Ann Arbor’s economy is diverse and resilient, being comprised of world-leading endeavors in research, education, technology, healthcare, and manufacturing. They cited the usual revered local institutions that have helped Ann Arbor gain praise and attention, Zingerman’s and The University of Michigan, but also showcased many other diverse and new businesses like HOMES Brewery and Cahoots co-working space in their write up.

We couldn’t agree more, except that we believe Ann Arbor should be #1!
